Although many problems and obstacles of the past no longer exist, a new set of challenges have appeared, each of which has taken the credibility, efficiency, relevance and ability of the Organization to task, and which provide opportunities and responsibilities to bring into conformity the modus operandi of international relations in general and the Organization itself in particular, with the purposes and principles of the Charter.
