Mr. CORVIN (Ireland), speaking on behalf of the European Union, and the associate countries of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia, and, in addition, Iceland, welcomed the approach adopted by the Bureau of the Special Committee in its preparation of the draft resolution dealing with the agenda item under consideration, and noted with satisfaction that the Special Committee had been able to reach consensus on a recommendation providing for the enlargement of the Committee.
